CE-UY 4092 Leadership, Business Principles, Policy and Ethics in Civil Engineering2 Credits This course is in seminar form and is required of all senior students in Civil Engineering. It focuses on various aspect of professional practice in civil engineering, and it augments and enriches the student’s educational experience, including the capstone design course. Topics include professional roles and responsibilities, professional registration and its importance, continuing education, engineering ethics, procurement of work, competitive bidding, quality-based selection processes and construction management. Students are also introduced to the design and construction processes used by federal, state and local agencies, as well as private owners. The course includes a no-credit recitation that prepares students for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination, which Civil Engineering students must take before graduation.
