Electrical and Computer Engineering, B.S.

With departmental permission, students may earn a single bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering. This degree requires a total of minimum 134 credits rather than the usual 128 required for individual bachelor’s degrees.

Please note that the curriculum that follows applies to students who began classes in the Fall of 2022 or later. For students who entered the NYU Tandon School of Engineering prior to that date, please review the curriculum and typical course schedule for students entering prior to Fall 2022.

Note: A GPA (Technical) of at least 2.0 is required in all ECE and CS courses. 

Choice of Humanities and Social Sciences courses must conform to university requirements. Students must complete at least ONE Advanced Seminar and one Ethics requirement.

2 Students may replace MA-UY 3044  and MA-UY 4204  with MA-UY 2034 , in which case an additional MA/SCI elective will be required.

3 For transfer students and students changing major, ECE-UY 1002  is not required. EG-UY 1004  may also be excused depending on transfer credits. Missing credit will be substituted with upper level engineering credit.

Grades of at least C- are required in CS-UY 1114 , CS-UY 1134 , CS-UY 2124 ECE-UY 2204 ECE-UY 2004  and ECE-UY 3054 .

5 ECE Restricted Electives: Choose 1 of the following 4 courses:

6 ECE/CS electives can be chosen from any ECE-UY or CS-UY prefixed course not already required by the major. The following ROB-UY courses count as ECE Electives: 

7 Students may take up to 7 credits of free electives to count towards their degree.
